Is vaping better for you than smoking?

There’s been a lot of debate over vaping, in the past few years. It’s become a fashionable habit to have, and many young people are now turning to e-cigarettes/vape pens/juuls instead of smoking. The point of controversy is usually whether it’s as bad for you as smoking. Is vaping a healthier alternative?

Some people firmly believe that vaping is better than smoking, with some people even saying that it’s good for you in general. Others stand by the belief that it’s incredibly bad for you and shouldn’t be promoted as a healthy alternative. There’s a lot of information and biased content available on the internet about this subject, so if you are looking into buying any sort of vaping device then I would recommend doing some research of your own first.

In this article, I’ll be going over what vaping actually is, the different types of electronic vaping devices that are available on the market, and whether vaping appears to be a positive or a negative thing.

What exactly is vaping?

One of the main things that appeals to people who vape is the wide variation of flavours of vape that you can get. Depending on the type of vape you have, the term will be ‘vape juice’ or pods. There’s pretty much every flavour that you could think of; the most common ones are bubblegum, tutti frutti and berries.

Something to note here is that most pods or vape juice will contain nicotine. Some of them are nicotine-free, which can be good if you aren’t using vaping to help give up a smoking addiction. Some of them do contain a high amount of nicotine, though.

Are there any benefits to vaping?

One of the main things that causes debate online is whether there are any benefits to vaping. As we said earlier, some people do firmly believe that vaping can be good for you. There isn’t any research commonly available right now to support the fact that vaping is directly good for your health. However, it can be great for people who are looking to give up smoking or other harmful habits- we’ll be looking at that later in the blog.

In general, vaping is thought to be a lot healthier than smoking. In a lot of regards, this is true as vapes don’t contain a lot of the harmful chemicals and additives that regular cigarettes do.

Something to bear in mind is that vape juice and pods can also contain harmful chemicals, especially if they’re not from high-quality stores. Always research your suppliers if this is something you buy, and check the ingredients too.

Can vaping help you give up smoking?

This is one of the most common reasons that people will pick up an e-smoking or vaping habit. It’s commonly said that taking up vaping can help curb smoking addictions, especially vaping with nicotine based products. There actually seems to be a lot of support for this idea currently, with new research coming out all the time.

From the personal accounts that I’ve seen online, people seem to have had great success with quitting smoking due to vaping. It seems to be a great way to curb addiction, and there are obviously huge benefits to not consuming the toxic chemicals that regular cigarettes normally contain. If you are looking to quit smoking, using an e-cigarette could be the perfect way to do this. It’s actually why the creator of vaping decided to make these products in the first place, as he was struggling to give up smoking with regular methods like nicotine patches.

Something to bear in mind is that vaping is still relatively new, especially when compared to standard smoking. Heavy research is being done into it of course, but it’s worth bearing in mind that there still isn’t a complete understanding of how vaping can affect people long-term.

What are the negative sides of vaping?

Of course, there are negative sides of vaping to consider even if they are incredibly useful for helping people stop smoking and a big trend at the moment. The main issues are found within the chemicals that are contained in some vape juices or pods, and also the fact that this is still nicotine consumption (if you don’t get one that’s nicotine free) as nicotine is a hugely addictive substance.

To sum up

The best way to look at this is that it’s a hugely useful tool to help people give up smoking, and should be treated as such. It definitely does seem to be a much healthier alternative with all of the knowledge that we have currently, and doesn’t promote the consumption of toxic chemicals. Any product that can help people break their addictive habits should be celebrated, and I think that the research we’re seeing into it is great.
